The article
The article I chose to read was about a a robot called Budgee built by Five Elements Robotics. The bot is essentially a basket with wheels. There are two wheel driven by independent motors for movement and a third free moving wheel for stability and to aid in turning. There are also bump sensor and cliff sensor. It can also fold up into a 5 pound package when not in use. Budgee was build with to carry your stuff as you shop. The bot follows you by homing in on an ultrasonic pinger you keep in your pocket. Budgee can carry up to 50 pounds.
Future implications
Budgee could be see future use in any office environment where there is a need to transport physical files, reports, or other documents, although the bot would have to have a navigation system that is more complex than what is currently in use. Budgee could also have potential as a delivery bot of some kinda. however, as stated before there would need to be a more complex navigation system in place before this could be possible.
