The article
The article I chose to read was about HOSPI-R, a drug delivery bot built by Panasonic. HOSPI-R was built to improve and maintain the quality of the nursing services due Japan's rapidly aging population. HOSPRI-R is meant to allow nurses and lab technicians to work while these bots delivery drugs and samples. HOSPI-R has several on board sensors so it can navigate the hospital as well as a floor plan downloaded to the bot to aid in navigation. The bot also has a locked compartment for samples and drugs accessible only by an I.D. card.
future implications
The bot could be seen in future hospitals in which the majority of the staff is automated. These bots could also help improve the efficiency with which hospitals operate and decrease potential costs. HOSPI-R could also be one of many possible bots build to aid in the day to day operations of hospitals.
